Yamaha, the well renowned two-wheeler manufacturer is now planning to grab the Indian scooter market with the launches of its scooters in India. The company announced the introduction of the scooters in the Indian market at the Auto Expo 2010, New Delhi. The world's largest gear-less scooter maker, the Yamaha Motor Company, Japan, with a range of scooters from 50 cc to 500 cc, has started studying the Indian market in order to introduce and make its models successful.Yamaha, the two-wheeler company that has already been excelling in the world of bikes is now ready to test its luck with the scooters in the Indian market. At first the enterprise will be making available its three scooters namely Yamaha -50 cc Neo, Yamaha 115cc Fino and the Yamaha 135cc Spark to the selected dealers with respect to measure the response from the Indian buyers.


With its range of 50 cc to 500 cc segment, the firm has also to compete with the potential competitor companies which are already experiencing a good sale with their products. The models that can prove to be the major rivals of the Yamaha are Hondas Aviator, Dio, Activa and TVSs Scooty pep. As per the news Bajaj has almost withdrawn its name from scooter but on the same hand there is Mahindra and Mahindra that is looking forward for its launches in the same segment.With its first product on road, the enterprise has to strongly compete with the major Auto maker's model like that of the Activa, TVS Scooty pep and the Hero Honda Pleasure which have already been proving themselves in the non-male bike segments. Yamaha has definitely to pay attention to its model's power and style along with the Price. The Honda Activa is undoubtedly going to be the strongest competitor for the Yamaha's scooter enjoying a market share of 55% at present. This is observed to be the best time for the company to launch its new scooters to the market as this is the time when the demands of the public are at its peak.


Following is the statement given by the India Yamaha Motor National Business Head, Pankaj Dubey, We are studying the market to enter the scooter segment, but we have not finalised the product line yet. However, one thing is sure that we will launch scooters in India. The feasibility study is mostly focusing on the model to be introduced and possible time to Market the product in the country and the feasibility study is expected to complete by mid of 2010.We are evaluating whether a model from our existing global scooter portfolio will be launched here or a completely new product will be developed for the Indian market, he said, adding that the company is also evaluating whether Yamaha would focus on premium or mass market product.
